Not yet. We are continuing to grow our volunteer network across the country. In states where there is no existing coordinator or WhatsApp group, volunteers and supporters can still participate through zonal or national Telegram groups.

There is no group in my state

We are steadily growing our presence across Nigeria, with active supporter clusters in different states. If there is no formal group in your area yet, you can still connect through our national Telegram group, where updates and volunteer opportunities are shared regularly. You might even be the link we need in your state!

Can I help build Amnesty International Nigeria’s activities in my state?

Yes. With support from the national office, volunteers who are active and engaged can help strengthen local organising efforts and connect more people to Amnesty International’s human rights work.

Membership

How can I become a member?

Membership is not open at this time. We will announce publicly when it becomes available. In the meantime, you can still actively contribute as a registered supporter or volunteer. Please keep an eye on our official channels for updates.

Can I get a membership or supporter ID card?

At this time, Amnesty International Nigeria does not issue ID cards for members, volunteers, or supporters. This is primarily for safety and security reasons. Your deeply valued support and participation are what matter the most.

Campaigns and Petitions

Why is Amnesty International focusing on a particular region or issue?

Our campaigns are based on documented human rights concerns, research findings, and ongoing advocacy priorities, no matter where they happen. Campaigns may focus on specific regions or issues at different times depending on urgency and evidence gathered.

Does Amnesty International only focus on some parts of Nigeria?

No. We document and campaign on human rights issues across Nigeria, including violations affecting different communities and regions.

What happens when I sign a petition?

Petitions are very important to amplifying public support for human rights issues and can place pressure on decision-makers to take action. Signing a petition does not provide personal or material benefits.

Can I share Amnesty International petitions and campaigns with others?

Yes! We encourage you to share petitions and campaign materials to help raise awareness and increase public participation.

Reporting Human Rights Violations

How do I report a human rights violation or seek intervention?

You can send details, including dates, location, a clear factual account and other details of a case, to [email protected] for proper review by our team. Please note that we are unable to receive or review videos sent directly through social media channels.

I have reported a case. What happens next?

Your message will be forwarded to our relevant teams for assessment. We will follow up with guidance or updates. We appreciate you speaking up and taking action to protect human rights.
